Crisma Emmanuel

Crisma Emmanuel is a postdoctoral research fellow at UNC's Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities, where she works with Dr. Mike O'Shea and focuses on socioenvironmental determinants of health for children with developmental disabilities. She graduated from UNC's BSN program in 2016 and the PhD program in 2021. She has a background helping people with mental health and developmental disorders and graduated from ECU with a bachelor's in psychology and social work in 2011. Her research interests include health equity and well-being among individuals with disabilities, particularly those diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders. Currently, she is focused on studying the relationship between discrimination and child health. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and traveling.
