Scholar Profile

Laura Elizabeth Britton of New York City, New York earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from Wellesley College in 2005 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina in 2014. She is a member of UNC-CH’s first cohort of Hillman Scholars and earned her PhD in Nursing in December 2018. Her long‐term goal is to improve reproductive health outcomes for women with chronic illnesses, especially those who are underserved. She received a Pre‐Doctoral F31 Traineeship Award, “Sociodemographic, Cognitive, and Affective Antecedents to Pregnancy Planning among Women with Diabetes” and began a Post‐Doctoral T32 Traineeship at Columbia University in summer 2019. She is a member of the Society of Family Planning, the Association of Reproductive Health

Professionals, and Sigma Theta Tau, has a green thumb and a passion for social justice.
