Jessica Marsack

Jessica Marsack works as both a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing and a CMSRN certified inpatient medical/surgical nurse at Michigan Medicine. She teaches medical-surgical nursing and health assessment to undergraduate students across lecture, laboratory, clinical, and simulation settings. Her dissertation work focused on the harmful effects of stigma and discrimination on various health outcomes for sexual and gender minority persons. Her scholarship now focuses on two primary areas: advancing environmental sustainability in healthcare simulation education and enhancing the effectiveness and inclusivity of simulation for learners and faculty.

At the University of Michigan, Dr. Marsack has advanced the integration of simulation in undergraduate courses and in the rollout of competency based education (CBE) initiatives. She is also actively engaged in international simulation education, both delivering faculty workshops in the Caribbean and hosting international partners. She has promoted initiatives for these topics as a co-founder and former chair of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Environmental Sustainability Special Interest Group (SIG). She also disseminates her work through publications, conference presentations, and invited media appearances such as podcasts and webinars.
